The Social Justice Education Departmental Student Association (SJE DSA) are excited to host a Lunch & Learn session on "Designing an OGS Proposal: Tips and Strategies" led by Dr. Hayley Brooks (she/her), Assistant Professor in Social Justice Education, Teaching Stream.

This session will explore how to craft a concise and convincing research proposal for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship 2026 competition. Professor Brooks will share successful OGS examples and walk students through how to design and frame a strong research study, in line with OGS requirements. This Lunch & Learn, although conversational in nature, also intends to impart practical steps in structuring and writing an impactful submission.

Light snack & refreshments will be provided.

About the Speaker

Hayley H. Brooks

Dr. Hayley H. Brooks (she/her) is Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) in Social Justice Education at the 91Ö±²¥ (OISE), University of Toronto. She specializes in the areas of critical international education, media and cultural studies, gender-based violence prevention education, and sociological research methods for social justice. Her research has been published in the Journal of Media Literacy Education, Comparative and International Education, and Annual Review of Comparative and International Education. Professor Brooks’ research and writing have received the University of Toronto’s Graduate Award for Scholarly Achievement in the Area of Gender-Based Violence, the Canadian Federation for Humanities and Social Sciences Merit Award for research excellence, and the Canadian Association for the Study of Women and Education’s Dissertation Award. Professor Brooks was previously a Research Administrative Officer with UTSC, specializing in research proposal development and editorial support for faculty SSHRC applications.
