Biography

Hemani is a third-year PhD student investigating ancestral language maintenance efforts for post-colonial diaspora communities, with a focus on the declining use of Hindi among Indo-Guyanese youth in Guyana. Her work examines youth perspectives to understand barriers and motivations, aiming to inform and develop community-based strategies and language education policy.
