Bliss Wong 鈥 Intergenerational Cultural Transmission: Conceptualizing the (Re)Generation of Culture in Chinese-Caribbean Ethnic Associations

Wong鈥檚 presentation examines Chinese-Caribbean ethnic associations as sites of intergenerational cultural transmission, exploring how traditions are not simply preserved but actively regenerated through community participation. By conceptualizing culture as dynamic rather than static, this research highlights the role of community organizations in shaping identity, belonging, and cultural continuity across generations. Yan Xiao 鈥 Community Learning as Generative Hope for Older Immigrants鈥 Emotional Well-being

Heather Lawless 鈥 Sounding Off on Equity: Podcasting, Belonging and Community-Building

What happens when storytelling meets digital media as a tool for equity? Lawless鈥檚 presentation investigates podcasting as a pedagogical and community-building practice that amplifies diverse voices and fosters belonging. By examining how audio storytelling creates accessible spaces for dialogue and representation, this research positions podcasting as both an educational method and a form of social engagement. The session highlights how creative media practices can strengthen community connections while advancing conversations around equity and inclusion.
