2025-2026 OISE GSA Conference Assistance Fund

The OISE Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) is pleased to offer graduate students financial assistance for presenting a paper or leading a workshop at a conference. Conferences are one aspect of our academic and professional trajectory. The GSA recognizes this and, through this fund, aims to support and encourage colleagues in building their experience and CVs.
Before you submit your application, please read the information below closely and be ready with all the required documentation. Applications that are incomplete and/or incorrect will not be considered.
Eligibility Requirements
- You must be a registered student at OISE for the 2025-2026 academic year at the time of application.
- Only full-time and part-time graduate students (research and professional streams) are eligible to apply.
- Only one application per person per funding cycle.
- Applications must be accompanied by two supporting documents that are evidence of conference participation.
- The conference applied for must have taken place between May 01, 2025 and February 28, 2026.
- Current GSA Executive Committee members, its Chief of Staff and Chairperson of the GSA Council are not eligible to apply.
Fund Details
- The 2025-2026 OISE GSA Conference Assistance Fund operates on a reimbursement basis.
- Funding assistance is offered to cover some of the costs associated with presenting in-person at conferences such as travel expenses and registration and/or membership fees.
- Total funding amount available for disbursement is $5,000.
- Funding will be awarded as follows: $100 for conferences in Toronto; $350 for conferences outside of Toronto but within Canada and the USA; $500 for conferences outside of Canada and the USA.
- This fund aims to cover expenses that are not covered by other resources (eg: UofT, SGS, OISE).
- There is no obligation on the GSA to disburse the total amount of $5,000.
- Applications will be reviewed by a special committee and its decision is final.
- Deadline for applications: 11.59pm ET, Friday February 27, 2026.
- Successful applicants will be notified by email (UofT email addresses only) by Monday March 23, 2026.
- Disbursements of funds will be made by cheque only. Cheques must be collected from the GSA office (Room 8-105) by Monday April 13, 2026.
- Cheques will be released only upon presentation of valid photo ID.
- The GSA Executive Committee reserves the right to cancel uncollected cheques.
